Ann Cummins Walbert graduated from
Millikin University with an art major and attended the Art Institute of Chicago.
While a resident of Carmel, California she was a trustee of the Monterey Musem of
Art and was represented by two local galleries and was also selected for
solo exhibits. Now a year-round resident of Friday Harbor, Washington
she is an enthusiastic supporter of the art community in the
beautiful San Juan Islands.
Through gallery sales of her paintings and from commissions
she has met interesting people from all areas of the country.
The Garden Club of America recognized her artistic contributions with
a special award. She completed a major commission for La Playa
Hotel of Carmel. Each of the 75 guest rooms is enhanced by an oil
on canvas painting. For Walbert the study of art is a lifetime
matter. Water, earth and sky (the elements) and people at work and
leisure are the subjects of her sketchbooks which she uses as reference.
